King Conker of Southwick, David Jakins, presides over the World Conker Championships.

"The game will commence with a toss of a coin, the winner of the toss may elect to strike or receive. A distance of no less than 8" or 20cm of lace must be between knuckle and nut. A small piece of nut or skin remaining shall be judged out, it must be enough to mount an attack. If both nuts smash at the same time then the match shall be replayed. A player causing a knotting of the laces will be noted, three snags will lead to disqualification. The game will be decided once one of the conkers is smashed."

Junior Queen of the Peak, Lauren Britain-Cartiledge escorted by the court of Chapel En Le Frith; Junior Queen Charlotte Jodrell, Princess Jasmine Fleming, Rosebud Kelsey Binning, and attendant Connie Oxbury.

"The event was held at Chapel-en-le-Faith Methodist Church, in front of invited visiting Village and charity royalty from around the Derbyshire and High Peak area. Due to not having Derbyshire Royalty for 2012/13 the Court of Queens part of the event was kindly hosted by Junior Queen of the Peak Lauren, who welcomed visiting Royalty from Derbyshire and surrounding areas along with Charity Royalty."

"Girls do it every year, it wasn't open to boys. I decided to ask my Mum why can't boys do it. In the end it all changed and I'm here. I'm looking forward to waving at everyone, and everyone just enjoying it because that's just what I want them to feel."

"After Mass we processed around the village, where Fr Philip said a prayer at the village sign, then to the King's Head, where Paul kindly provided welcome refreshments. After that we went to St Joseph's Centre for a shared lunch."

"The carnival queen event saw five ladies battle it out in three rounds; bridalwear, eveningwear and a freestyle round where the girls could choose their own outfit and music. Danielle said: ìWearing the wedding dress from Lineyís Brides was my favourite part. If I got married that would be the dress I would want to wear, it was amazing.î In the end it was Danielle who came out on top, meaning she will now follow in the footsteps of her older sister Natasha who was carnival queen in 2012."

Lavender Queen of Heacham, Shannon Tucker attended by Miss Seren Cartwright, Miss Libby Baker, Miss Trinity Lusher & Miss ,Lucy Whitemore.

'Another warm day for Heacham Carnival Parade, although a light breeze did keep the temperature down for those in costume. The Lavender Queen, Shannon, and her four princesses had the ahhhh factor atop their float filled with fragrant lavender plants as did the Heacham Rainbows who came as picnicking Flower Fairies taking the cup for Best Youth Entry."

Queen of Great Bentley, Abbie Bennett, hosts the Queensí Tea with Junior Princess Hannah Langford.

"The past is the past and it always will be. And if we try to erase it, it will just get worse and the tears we all cried are just a stepping stone in the path of life and a warning not to go back and sometimes we might try to go back thinking it's for the better but there's a reason it's the past. As for the future no one knows where that will lead, just take what you have learned and let life play itís game."

"Ollie, whose mother spoke to the Chronicle of his ordeal, had been walking home from the village carnival on September 21st carrying his prize goldfish when he was approached by two men in Ash Grove. They stole his jumper, shirt, shoes and £15 in cash after attempting to steal his mobile phone as well, leaving the schoolboy forced to walk home in just his trousers and socks."
