An Invacar vehicle outside a council house. Short for "invalid carriage," that was provided to disabled people in the UK by the Ministry of Health from after World War II until 1981. Designed for drivers with physical disabilities, it featured tiller steering instead of a traditional wheel and hand controls. While providing independence, these vehicles had significant safety concerns and other drawbacks.
