Auctioneer Charles Ashton of Cheffins, Cambridge examining a rare first edition of D H Lawrence's Lady Chatterley's lover which comes up for auction on Wednesday 23rd February 2011. Lawrence paid for the first printing of his infamous novel in 1928 undertaken by the Italian publisher Orioli when he was unable to find a British publisher for the work. There were only 1000 printed with each one being signed by Lawrence. This edition os expected to sell for ?2500. Lady Chatterley's lover was eventually sold publically in the UK in 1960 after a celebrated courtcase.
