Coalition Cola 50/50 blend of Pepsi/Coke and Conservative/Labour proves ultimate refreshment for disillusioned voters
Saturday 28th March 2015
A Pepsi-quaffing Tory boy and a Coke-swigging Labour lad saw their irreverent blend of cola and politics top the polls in a public vote today.
Coalition Cola is an exact 50/50 blend of Pepsi and Coca-Cola, and its creators (an ardent Conservative and Labour supporter respectively) reckon it's just what's needed to put the fizz back into politics.
Master blender Nick Copeman explains: "I was watching Cameron and Miliband being decimated by Paxman when I accidentally knocked my Pepsi into my mate Matt's Coke. We both tried it out of curiosity and reckoned it tasted considerably better than either Pepsi or Coke alone. Then we thought: What if Dave and Ed worked together too? Coalition Cola was born."
Donning suits and rosettes, Nick and Matt canvassed public opinion in Sheringham, Norfolk today, by staging a "Cola Election" complete with polling station, ballot box and samples of Pepsi, Coke and their new Coalition Cola mix.
Coalition Cola romped to victory with 64% of the votes -- more than Coke (25%) and Pepsi (11%) combined.
With a general election looming, a hung parliament predicted and another coalition government on the cards, the pair hopes their unlikely coalition of colas will lead to an equally unlikely coalition of parties.
Labour man Matt is converted: "The Conservatives and Labour claim to be different but, like Pepsi and Coke, they're really just two brands of the same thing, which actually taste better together. I reckon they should settle their differences over a glass of Coalition Cola and find a way to work together -- in a Conservative/Labour coalition."
