Six juvenile orphaned seals, both Common and Grey being released into the Wash in Lincolnshire.?The seals were rescued by the RSPCA after their parents died and the pups began to suffer from malnutrition and illness. They were nursed back to health at the RSPCA centre in Norfolk for between three and six months before returning to the sea to seek out one of the seal colonies that inhabit the shores of the UK. New research carried out by the RSPCA ?and the?Sea Mammal Research Unit, St Andrews, Scotland has shown that seals rescued can return to the wild without any adverse effects (see attached press release)...Picture shows -..Seals in a drianed pool ready to be transported.
